This is a reminder of the Yellowstone County Presidential Caucus tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 5th, starting with a 6 PM social hour, at the Holiday Inn Grand Montana.
All Republicans are invited to attend — not just those eligible to vote under the state party’s caucus rules.
We will have a cash bar, chips and other light snacks, TV’s to watch election returns coming back from around the country and the state, etc.
Precinct captains and elected officials who are eligible to vote should bring a photo ID to assist the people checking you in at the time of voting, which should start around 8 PM. Those eligible to vote should already have been notified by postcard from the state Republican Party.
A change that is in the works is that all 4 presidential candidates will probably be addressing the gathering by speakerphone — Gov. Huckabee, Sen. McCain, Congressman Paul, and Gov Romney have coordinated their schedules with the help of the state party to make this possible. These speeches from the candidates to Montana caucus-goers across the state will start around 6:40.
Please come prepared to buy your Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner tickets — bring your checkbook.
Precinct captains (i.e. committeemen and committeewomen) need to remember to sign up at the table provided to renew your application for your precinct positions, as I mentioned in an earlier e-mail Even though many of you were elected by the county central committee earlier this month, this has to be done prior to the June primary. These county forms need to be notarized, since they are the forms for applying or reapplying during an election year.
Those who aren’t precinct captains but are interested in signing up for precinct positions should also sign up at the caucus — this will be a convenient time to do it, since we will have a notary public and the proper forms.
